Grafalloy Epic Shaft

BSt*ne said: Wow, just got this shaft in and was extremely impressed. I initially had it slated for the back up driver, but have moved it to the SuperQuad and put it in my first 3 wood, waiting for the .350 tip for my hybrid. I picked up 8 yards of carry over the Diamana Red Board in my driver with the same launch angle and about 300 RPM less spin. Also, the dispersion was far tighter than with the Red Board. Nice smooth feel and it played a bit stiffer than the Red Board, solid control, was able to shape the ball either direction with ease. The driver shaft weighed in at 68 grams, so I had to add some weight to get it up to the 73 gram range that the Diamana was at, the fairway came in at 84 grams which was perfect for my 3 wood. Did not anticipate this, but I really like this shaft.

He had just PM'd me with the idea of getting an Epic. I was just telling him of the review I had just read, how the guy said it crushed his Whiteboard handily. I come out from sending him a reply PM, and this appears before my eyes. I see an Epic in Ez's future...:D R35

I can't argue with 8 yards carry, lower spin, and tighter dispersion. Not to mention it retails for about half of the Red Board for the driver shaft and the fairway is even less.

R*ckford35 said: I would seriously like to try one of these, but I can't justify 200 bucks for a "trial run". If you get sick of yours, I'd like to demo it. R35

R35 I'm getting one in for my Burner, but I may just keep the Red Board in it at the longer length so that I can just let it fly, I'll let you know how that goes.

R*ckford35 said: Sweet, thanks. R35

R*ckford35 said: If I tried one, I'd probably end up buying one. :D I'd like to demo one first. Then, I'd have to convince myself that 8 yards longer carry and dead straight are a bad thing. Then, I would Paypal you some money. LOL. R35

Thought about swapping in the 757 breifly but the Epic has gotten rave reviews, worth a shot for the price. Plus it will make one awesome looking combo. lol. You know you wanna hear how it plays.

w*rbirdlover said: I think JEFF4i also had better luck after he pulled his ReAx shaft and replaced it. :)

MCD*vis said: Odd...I put a Reax in my R580 XD and it does very well for me. Just shows "different strokes"...

*zra76 said: Quote: Originally Posted by MCDavis Odd...I put a Reax in my R580 XD and it does very well for me. Just shows "different strokes"... Don't get me wrong, for an OEM it is a pretty decent shaft IMO. Just not the tightest dispersion, I feel I could do better with control and maintain the same distance with something else. I was actually a little disapointed to see the same old Reax in the Superquad. For the price I was expecting something newer and better than the same one they've been using for a year and a half.

w*rbirdlover said: Quote: Odd...I put a Reax in my R580 XD and it does very well for me. Just shows "different strokes"... MCDavis The ReAx is probably a much better shaft then what was in the R580 XD. :)

MCD*vis said: Yep..Reax is definitely better than the MAS shafts.

Lyl*G said: I just ordered one of these. $148 Canadian with my discount. Not bad for a test go around.

VtD*vot said: According to your sig (8.9), you should be giving me strokes when I'm at the top of my game. :)

*zra76 said: Oh, ok. I was on it last round, 3 over through 12... actually I ended the back (which I played first) par, par so I guess that would equate to 3 over for 14. I also played 2 of the most difficult par 4's twice (#1 and #3 cap holes). So I'd imagine I'd be a tough competitor in match play. That sig. cap comes from tearing up the course I've been playing for years at the end of last season. I'm not the type of guy who can just go in and play to it anywhere. Need to use a lot course management and strategy to break 80. I look forward to meeting you and Sling. Is IG coming over?

Where are you staying? We have a spare bedroom here in the "Ghetto Penthouse" but accommodations are not 5star. http://www.shottalk.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif I'm still living like a college junior at 30, lol. You're welcome to it if need be though.
